Pixels To Print: Top 5 Free Font Websites
August 25, 2020
Typography is one of the greatest and most effective elements of a design
when it comes to conveying your message with impact. Just like color,
it has the ability to create a mood, but it also sets a sense of style and
can bring an immense amount of character to your work. By using a
serifed font, you can have a more classical look, whereas a sans-serif font
can convey a modern and clean aesthetic. Scripted fonts bring about a sense
of lightheartedness, and bold fonts convey strength, just to name a few.
Some logos or designs can even consist of solely typography, making it that
much more powerful when the font is chosen well. Speaking of fonts,
the selection that we have access to is tremendous. It can be
difficult to choose the right one out of so many options, but when the font
fits perfectly to what style and message you are trying to achieve, magic is
made.
To help you out in your search for the perfect font, we have put together a
list of 5 free font websites that we have found to be helpful to us:
1) Google Fonts
The massive library of Google Fonts features over 800 font families, from
sans serif to handwriting fonts, monospaced fonts, and more. The best
part is that all fonts on Google Fonts are open-source, meaning that they
can be used in any way you’d like – no licensing needed!
2) DaFont

personal use, there are still quite a few that come with commercial
licenses as well.
3) Font Squirrel

Similar to Dafont, Font Squirrel offers fonts with both personal and
commercial licenses, but they make it very easy to check the license type
before downloading them by including license icons below each font.
Secret Tip: Font squirrel includes a font identifier tool that helps you to detect and find fonts based on images!
4) Behance

designs with each other and create portfolios of their best work, but many
people don’t know that it includes shared free fonts as well. Type
in ‘free font’ in the search bar, and an endless list of downloadable
fonts will appear!

browse!
As you have probably realized, licensing is very important when it comes to
downloading fonts off the web. Many times, fonts that are free are
just free for personal use, and to have commercial use, you’d have to
purchase that license. However, almost always will free font sites
offer fonts that are free for commercial use as well, meaning that you can
use it for whatever you want! Just be sure to double check what license the
font lists before downloading so that you are aware of the
restrictions!
Now let’s get out there and try something new! No more settling for those
overused default fonts!
